The video analyzes the use of rhythmic cutting, perspective, and subjectivity to create the dynamic style in Whiplash (2014), as well as how this style contributes to the visual storytelling and overall impact of the film. For my editing for film and video course, I was assigned to create a video essay exploring the editing style of a film or film scene. The goal was to create a visually engaging and memorable video showcasing our research and analysis. "The Visual Music of Whiplash" delves into the editing techniques and stylistic choices throughout different scenes of the film and how they contribute to the high energy pace of the film and, ultimately, how they are used to effectively and engagingly tell the story.
